The fourth state we drove through on Tuesday was Wisconsin. Wisconsin is famous for producing great dairy products, in particular cheese. cheese curds are a regional favorite that are hard to find outside of Wisconsin.
Fried cheese curds are similar to motzarella sticks, but are more irregularly shaped and bite sized. Fresh cheese curds are more like cheese cubes, but they are also irregularly shaped.
The University of Wisconsin- Madison is a really pretty school that is located in downtown Madison-- right in the heart of the city.
After visiting UW-Madison, we traveled to an arboretum owned by the University, but open to the public. We took Bear on a hike on the beautiful trails around the arboretum. While we were hiking, we heard and saw all sorts of birds in the surrounding brush. We also got some great photos of the fall foliage.
